Pearl Barley Chicken Soup Recipe In Your West Bend Slow Cooker

If you are one of the lucky people to have a West Bend Slow Cooker, you will be able to make this recipe with ease. If you prefer, you can brown the chicken in your West Bend Slow Cooker first, simply remove it to add the barely and then follow the recipe as it is. Pearl Barley Chicken Soup Recipe


What You Need:

  • 1/2 lb pearl barley
  • 1 small stewing chicken
  • 2 carrots, chunked
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced
  • 2 T parsley, chopped
  • Water

How to Make It:

  1. Place the barley in the West Bend Slow Cooker.
  2. Add the stewing chicken.
  3. Place the carrots and celery on top of the chicken.
  4. Sprinkle the parsley over the top of the other ingredients.
  5. Cover just over the top of the ingredients with water.
  6. Cover the West Bend Slow Cooker and cook on low 5 hours,
  7. Remove the chicken from the West Bend Slow Cooker.
  8. Use forks to remove the chicken meat from the bones.
  9. Discard the bones and any skin.
  10. Return to the chicken meat to the crock pot.
  11. Recover and continue cooking on low 1 hour or until the barley is soft.

Serving Size: 6

Pearl barley is processed by removing the hull and bran. This type of barley is used more often in cooking because it cooks much faster than regular barley. This type of barley can be found in most supermarkets.
