Homemade Soup Recipe - Seafood and White Fish Soup Recipe

Winter is here and there are no better welcoming food to serve your family than a tasty homemade soup with freshly baked bread. A good homemade soup is nutritious while it is also comfort food. Treat your family to this tasty recipe!

If you have a breadmaker such as the Cuisinart CBK 100 Programmable Breadmaker and a slow cooker such a Cuisinart PSC 350 3 1 2 Quart Programmable Slow Cooker, producing such a meal will not be a problem.

With your slow cooker you can be away all day and the soup will be ready when you return as it is programmable and the same goes for the breadmaker as it is programmable and you can set it to have the bread ready at the time you want it.

Here is a soup recipe to try out and serve with your homemade bread. It may be a little too big for a Cuisinart PSC 350 3 1 2 Quart Programmable Slow Cooker, but as it is for 8 people it is easy to half the quantities for a small family. With this recipe you will have to finish it of with another 45 minutes cooking after you return home.

Seafood and White Fish Soup Recipe

What You Need:

  • 2 C onions, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped fine
  • 5 cloves of garlic, mined
  • 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz) bottle clam juice
  • 1/2 C water
  • 1 T red wine vinegar
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 2 1/2 t dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 t sugar
  • 1/4 t red pepper flakes, crushed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 lb. white fish, cut into 1 in pieces
  • 3/4 lb uncooked medium shrimp, shelled, deveined and tails removed
  • 1 (6 1/2 oz) can chopped clams with juice
  • 1 (6 oz) can crabmeat, drained
  • 1/4 C fresh parsley, chopped

How to Make It:

  1. Place the onion, celery, garlic and tomatoes into the slow cooker.
  2. Pour in the clam juice, water, vinegar and oil.
  3. Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, sugar and pepper flakes.
  4. Stir the mixture to combine all the ingredients together well.
  5. Add the bay leaf and stir again.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on high 4 hours.
  7. Add the fish, shrimp, clams with the juice and crabmeat to the slow cooker.
  8. Lower the heat to the low setting, cover and continue cooking 45 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  9. Remove the bay leaf before serving and sprinkle the top with the parsley.

Serving Size: 8

A dry white wine can be used in place of the water if you like. If you use a wine choose a dry white wine such as Sauvignon Blanc or a Chardonnay.
