Here is your recipe for custard ice cream.
First of all keep in mind that if you allow the custard to cool down a little before placing it in your machine you will have better and faster results.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons cornflour
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 or 3 eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 cup cream
- Pinch of salt
Method:
- Bring the milk to boiling-point
- Pour the milk onto the cornflour and sugar that are mixed
- Return to the saucepan and stir the mixture until it is thick and smooth, you have to stir all the time to prevent lumps
- Allow the mixture to cook for about 3 minutes
- Slightly beat the egg yolks
- Pour the hot mixture over the egg yolk
- Return to the saucepan once a gain and stir until the egg is cooked.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla essence and the pinch of salt
- Let the mixture cool down and then add the slightly whipped cream to it
- Freeze according to the instructions of you ice cream maker
This may sound like a little more work than other ice cream recipe, but the tasty end result is well worth the extra work.
