Valentines Food - Have My Heart Potato Pancakes



As Valentine's Day is approaching, we are all looking at Valentines Food. Here is a fun way to prepare potato pancakes for Valentines day.

Have My Heart Potato Pancakes


What You Need:

  • 1 (14 oz) can chicken broth
  • ½ t pepper
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 ½ C instant potato flakes

How to Make It:

  1. Pour the broth into a saucepan over medium high heat.
  2. Stir in the pepper well.
  3. Bring the broth to a brisk boil then remove from the heat.
  4. Gently stir in the green onion.
  5. Pour the potato flakes into the pan and let them stand until they have absorbed all the broth liquid.
  6. Lay a heart shaped cookie cutter in a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Fill the cookie cutter with the potato mixture.
  8. Cook 5 minutes then flip and continue cooking 3 minutes or until browned.

Serving Size: 4


Make these heart potato cakes extra special for your Valentine by adding a spoon of applesauce with red hot candies on the top of each one.

Valentines food - Broiled Shrimp and Bacon Wrappers

Here is another tasty and really fun Valentines food recipe. Enjoy!

Broiled Shrimp and Bacon Wrappers

What You Need:

  • 16 jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 strips of bacon cut in half lengthwise
  • ¼ C butter style shortening, melted
  • 1 T Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 garlic clove, minced fine
  • 1 t lemon juice

How to Cook It:

  1. Turn on the broiler and allow it to heat while preparing the shrimp.
  2. Wrap one slice of bacon around each piece of shrimp and secure it with a wooden toothpick.
  3. Place the melted shortening in a mixing bowl.
  4. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until blended.
  5. Add the garlic and lemon juice and whisk until completely combined.
  6. Brush each shrimp thoroughly with the sauce.
  7. Place in a single layer on a broiler pan.
  8. Broil 6 minutes, turn and continue broiling 5 minutes or until the bacon is crisp.

Serving Size: 4


These little wonders make great appetizers before the Valentine’s meal or can be used as the main course. ¼ t salt and ¼ t of pepper can be added to the sauce if you wish. Seafood is always a good idea for Valentines Food.

Valentine Food - New York Strip with Balsamic Mushrooms

New York Strip with Balsamic Mushrooms


Portobello mushrooms have a great meaty taste and go well with any type of steak. By adding the garlic and vinegar it gives them a special robust flavor.


What You Need:

  • 2 (8 oz) New York Strip steaks (1 inch thick)
  • ½ t coarse salt
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 1 T unsalted butter
  • 6 oz. Portobello mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 1 T balsamic vinegar

How to Make It:

  1. Preheat the broiler.
  2. Sprinkle both sides of the steaks with the salt.
  3. Place the steaks on a broiler pan.
  4. Broil 4 minutes then turn and continue broiling 3 minutes for medium rare.
  5. Remove the steaks and place on plates loosely covered with foil.
  6. Place the oil and butter into a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Let the butter melt being sure to stir it into the oil.
  8. Add the sliced mushroom and stir to coat.
  9. Cook the mushrooms 4 minutes or until fork tender.
  10. Add the garlic, stir and cook an additional 30 seconds.
  11. Remove the skillet from the heat and add the vinegar stirring to coat.
  12. Uncover the steaks and spread the mushroom mixture over the top just before serving.

Serving Size: 2

Valentines Food - Mushroom Laced Chicken Egg Rolls

Valentines Food

Here is another tasty Valentines food recipe that is ideal for your valentines party. The recipe is for a small amount but obviously you can increase it for the amount of guests you will have. If it is for a romantic dinner for two, you'll have tasty leftovers for the next day.

Mushroom Laced Chicken Egg Rolls

What You Need:

  • 2 C vegetable oil
  • ½ C chicken, cooked and chopped
  • ¼ C mushrooms, sliced
  • ¼ C celery, chopped fine
  • 1 t soy sauce
  • ½ t curry powder
  • 8 egg roll wrappers

How to Cook It:

  1. Place the vegetable oil into a deep fryer and allow it to heat to 365 degrees.
  2. Place the chopped chicken into a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the mushrooms and celery and toss to combine.
  4. Add the soy sauce and mix until all the ingredients are coated.
  5. Sprinkle in the curry powder and blend together well.
  6. Lay the egg roll wrappers out flat.
  7. Spread 2 t of the chicken mixture into the middle of each wrapper.
  8. Fold the corners in and then fold the ends up over the corners.
  9. Roll until completely closed.
  10. Moisten the underneath side of the wrapper with a little water to seal.
  11. Fry the egg rolls 2 at time for 3 minutes or until a nice golden brown.
  12. Lay the egg rolls in a single layer on paper towel to drain.

Serving Size: 4


These make a great little appetizer to start out the evening. Serve them with sweet and sour sauce on the side.

Valentine Food - Darling Pepperoni Pizza Bites



Here is another recipes for Valentine Food for your Valentines Party.


Darling Pepperoni Pizza Bites

What You Need:

  • 1 (4 oz) pkg. pepperoni slices
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 C cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ¼ C Italian dressing
  • 1 C Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 (13.4 oz) pkg. refrigerated pizza dough

How to Make It:

  1. Place the oven on 400 degrees and allow the oven to heat while preparing the pizza bites.
  2. Spray a large baking pan with a non stick cooking spray.
  3. Place the pepperoni in a mixing bowl.
  4. Add the green pepper, onion and tomatoes to the bowl and toss to combine.
  5. Pour the dressing into the bowl and toss again to make sure all the ingredients are covered well.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Sprinkle the cheese over the top of the entire mixture.
  8. Unroll the pizza dough and cut it into 2 inch pieces with a sharp knife.
  9. Lay the dough pieces over the top of the pepperoni mixture.
  10. Bake 10 minutes or until the top is a golden brown and the mixture is heated through.
  11. Let stand 5 minutes then invert on a large serving plate.

Serving Size: 6


This is a fun and easy appetizers for children's Valentine's Day parties. Serve it with warm pizza sauce as a dip and watch them gobble it right up. Of course I know very few adults that will not enjoy these as appetizers for an "Adult" Valentines party!

Valentines Day Meals



I think Valentines Day Meals should include more than only the Valentines Dinner. Treat your loved ones to tasty Valentines Breakfast and tasty Valentines lunch.

Valentines Day Meals - Love You Lunchtime Sandwiches


What You Need:

  • 12 slices of white bread
  • 12 slices American cheese
  • 4 T butter, room temperature

How to Make It:

  1. Spread each of the slices of bread on one side with the butter.
  2. Place a skillet or griddle over medium heat on the stove.
  3. Lay 6 slices of bread in the skillet butter side down.
  4. Lay 2 slices of cheese on each piece of bread in the skillet.
  5. Top each sandwich with the remaining bread slices buttered side facing up.
  6. Brown for 3 minutes then flip the sandwiches.
  7. Continue to brown an additional 3 minutes or until the sandwich is a golden brown on both sides and the cheese has melted.

Serving Size: 6 sandwiches

Valentine Food



If we think about Valentine's food we think of so much more than just the dinner. Why not start spoiling your loved ones with lovely breakfast Valentine food? What better way to start the day!

Sweetheart Breakfast Fritters with Love Syrup


What You Need:

  • 2 C + 1 T canola oil, divided
  • 1 lg. egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 C milk
  • 1 C sweet apple, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1 C all purpose flour
  • 1/2 C sugar + 1 T sugar, divided
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1 1/4 t cinnamon, divided
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1/2 C strawberry or maple syrup

How to Make It:

  1. Place the 2 C of canola oil into a deep fryer or heavy pan and allow to heat to 365 degrees.
  2. Pour the milk into a bowl with the slightly beaten egg and whisk to combine.
  3. Add the apples to the mixture and gently stir to incorporate.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl toss together the flour, 1 T sugar, the baking powder, 1/4 t cinnamon and the salt.
  5. Add the flour mixture to the egg and milk and blend until all the dry ingredients are just moistened.
  6. Drop 3 to 4 teaspoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry 4 minutes, turning occasionally for even browning.
  7. Remove the fritters when they are a golden brown with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel to drain.
  8. Continue deep frying in this manner being sure to allow the oil to return to the correct temperature before adding a new batch.
  9. Place the remaining sugar and 3/4 t of the cinnamon into a sealable plastic bag.
  10. Add the fritters a couple at time.
  11. Seal the bag after each addition and shake to cover the fritters well.
  12. Place the fritters on plates.
  13. Place the syrup into a microwave safe bowl.
  14. Stir in the remaining cinnamon until well combined.
  15. Microwave on high for 30 seconds or until the syrup is warmed.
  16. Pour the syrup over the fritters just before serving.

Serving Size: 16 fritters

Breakfast is a great time to spend together as a family and enjoying a special Valentine’s Day treat. Add a few fresh strawberries on the side to how them just how much they matter.
