Winter Is Soup Time So, Soup And Homemade Bread Is Ideal For Entertaining

Soup and homemade bread is the ultimate comfort food in winter. Why not invite some friends and treat them with tasty soup and homemade bread? It is easier than you may think; all you need is two of the most wonderful kitchen appliances.

Of course I am thinking of a breadmaker and a slow cooker! For the bread a Zojirushi BB-HAC10 is ideal as it is programmable and it bakes the perfect 1pound loaf, just enough for none meal.

For a slow cooker you should have a look at the West Bend Slow Cooker and particularly at the West Bend 84716 Versatility 6 Quart Oval Slo Cooker because it is more versatile than any other slow cooker you can get.

Here is a tasty recipe to try in your West Bend Slow Cooker.

Salsa Ground Beef Soup

What You Need:

  • 1 lb extra lean ground beef
  • 4 C water
  • 1 lb potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 small carrots, chopped
  • 2 (4 oz) cans mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 1 (16 oz) jar chunky salsa

How to Make It:

  1. Place the meat in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook the meat 12 minutes or until completely browned.
  3. Drain the meat well in a colander and pat with paper towel.
  4. Pour all of the water into the crock pot.
  5. Add the ground beef, potatoes, onion and carrots.
  6. Pour in the drained mushrooms.
  7. Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix in with the vegetables and meat.
  8. Blend in the salsa being sure all the ingredients are incorporate together.
  9. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
Serving Size: 8

If you aren't partial to ground beef, ground turkey or pork will also work. Stew meat cut into small chunks also makes this soup a treat.

Zojirushi BB-HAC10

I need some help from you, I would be very glad if you would try out the following recipe in a Zojirushi BB-HAC10 breadmaker. I do not have a Zojirushi BB-HAC10, but I'm looking at it because of the good reviews. Now I would like to share some of my recipes with you that have a Zojirushi BB-HAC10 breadmaker, but I'm not quite sure of the amounts as in South Africa we are metric and I do not know the size of bread my recipes will make.

The Zojirushi BB-HAC10 is a top breadmaker and it bakes a 1 pound mini-loaf that is ideal is you want to have freshly baked bread on the breakfast table every morning. So, please have a look at this recipe and tell me how we can adjust it for a Zojirushi BB-HAC10. I think the three cups of flour may be too much.

OK, so here goes, let me know PLEASE!

Tasty Raisin And Nut Bread:

  • 1 ¼ Cups of water
  • 2 Tablespoon of butter
  • 3 Cups of white flour
  • 1 ½ tablespoons of dried skim milk
  • 2 Tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 ½ Tablespoons of salt
  • 1 ½ tablespoons of ground cinnamon
  • 2 ½ Tablespoons of dried quick acting yeast
  • ½ Cup of raisins
  • ¼ Cup of nuts (any kind you prefer)

For an extra special treat I sometimes add ½ cup of chopped glazed cherries as well. I do not know if the Zojirushi BB-HAC10 can take it.

So, try this out or at least adjust a Zojirushi BB-HAC10 recipe that is close to it and let me know what happened, pretty please!
