Grilling When The Weather Is Not On Your Side

If you love grilling, you do not only have to do it when the weather is right for it. You can also grill and even if you do not have an indoor grill you can use your Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler. It is a very good option, especially if you do not want to get an indoor grill because you prefer grilling outside on a charcoal grill such as the Weber One Touch Charcoal Grill.

There is no need to have two grillers, use your Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler when you have to grill indoors. The floating hinge makes it possible to open up flat so that you can use it as an indoor grill.

To give you an idea of what you can do, here is a tasty recipe for you to try:

Dilled Veggie Burgers

What You Need:

  • 1 eggplant, peeled and sliced 3/8 inch thick
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced 1/3 inch thick
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 baking potato, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 1/3 C extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 slices of toasted bread
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 C of wheat berries, cooked
  • 1 T of fresh dill
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • 6 pita pockets
  • 6 lettuce leaves
How to Make It:

  1. Allow the grill to heat to the medium temperature.
  2. Brush the eggplant, tomatoes, onion and potatoes evenly with the olive oil.
  3. Grill the vegetables for 12 minutes, turning occasionally, or until tender.
  4. Place the toasted bread into the food processor and process until the bread becomes fine crumbs. (One of the Cuisinart 11 Cup Pro Custom 11 Food Processors is ideal for this)
  5. Transfer the bread crumbs to a bowl.
  6. Place the garlic into the food processor and process until chopped fine.
  7. Add the grilled vegetables to the processor with the garlic and process until smooth.
  8. Stir in the mixture into the bread crumbs until completely blended.
  9. Add the wheat berries, dill, salt and pepper and stir until blended together well.
  10. From the mixture into 6 patties and mist both sides with a non-stick cooking spray.
  11. Grill the burgers 5 minutes per side until as crisp as you like.
  12. Place the grilled burgers into the pita pockets and add a lettuce leave before serving.

Makes 6 pitas

To cook the wheat berries combine 1 part berries to 6 parts water. Bring the water to a rolling boil, cover the pan, reduce the heat to low and cook 1 1/2 hours or until the berries are soft. Be sure to drain the berries well before adding them to the grilled vegetable mixture.

So, as it is still cold out, grab your Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler and try this recipe. If you like it, you can cook it on your Weber One Touch Charcoal Grill when summer finaly arrives!

Sweet and Spicy Turkey Breast On The Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler

When you are thinking about grilling, it is not always necessary to do it on the outside grill. Many grilling recipes can be made successfully on a griddler such as the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler.

I say this because the gloating hinge of the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler makes it possible to adjust the height and it can also be opened completely flat to be used as a grill. It is a good idea to keep that in mind.

We often find that we feel like something, but we do not want to go out and grill and that is when a griddler such as the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler comes in handy. To give you and idea, here is a recipe you can try. It is also, of course very suitable to grill on a Weber One Touch Charcoal Grill.

Sweet and Spicy Turkey Breast

What You Need:

  • 1 TBSP black peppercorn
  • 1 TBSP cumin
  • 1 TBSP chili powder
  • 1 TBSP oregano
  • 1 TBSP minced garlic
  • 1/4 C lime juice
  • 2 TBSP olive oil
  • 6 firm peaches, peeled and chopped fine
  • 1 C peach preserves
  • 2/3 C peach juice
  • 1/4 C sugar
  • 2 TBSP cider vinegar
  • 4 jalapeno peppers, stemmed, seeded and chopped fine
  • 1 TBSP cilantro, chopped fine
  • 1 (4 lb) turkey breast
  • Canola oil

How to Make It:

  1. Crush the peppercorn seeds as fine as possible.
  2. Add the cumin, chili powder, oregano, minced garlic, lime juice and olive oil and stir into a paste.
  3. Coat the turkey completely with the paste.
  4. Place the turkey into a large zip lock bag, remove as much air as possible, seal tight and refrigerate overnight.
  5. In a saucepan over medium high heat mix together the peaches, preserves, peach juice, sugar and vinegar.
  6. Bring to a rapid boil then reduce the heat to medium low.
  7. Stirring often simmer the mixture for about 30 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
  8. Remove the mixture from the heat and allow cooling at least 10 minutes.
  9. Place the cooled mixture into the food processor and process until very smooth.
  10. Add the jalapeno peppers and cilantro and mix well.
  11. Allow mixture to come to room temperature then refrigerate until ready to use.
  12. Heat the grill on medium high.
  13. Brush the turkey breast completely with the canola oil.
  14. Grill skin side up over indirect heat for 1 hour 15 minutes.
  15. Remove and allow cooling before slicing and serving with the peach mixture.

If you do this on a Weber One Touch Charcoal Grill you can keep in mind that if you like your turkey breasts to be a little crispy on the outside place it on direct heat for 10 minutes before removing from the grill.
