The Benefits Of Frozen Meals Such As This Have Me Later Chili Recipe

Have Me Later Chili

What You Need:

  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • 1 lg onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 (14 oz) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 T chili powder
  • 1 t ground cumin
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • 2 (15 oz) cans chili beans
  • 2 T cornstarch, optional
  • 1/4 C water, optional

How to Make It:

  1. Place the ground chuck in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the onions and garlic.
  3. Cook until meat is browned through and vegetables are tender.
  4. Drain well.
  5. Place the tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper into a large saucepan.
  6. Place over high heat.
  7. Bring to a rapid boil.
  8. Add the meat and beans.
  9. Reduce heat to low.
  10. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  11. Remove lid and continue cooking for 10 minutes.
  12. Place saucepan in the refrigerator for a rapid cool.
  13. Pour chili into freezer containers and freeze (in your Frigidaire Chest Freezer) for up to 3 months.
  14. To reheat, remove chili from the freezer.
  15. Place 1/4 C of water in a saucepan.
  16. Add the chili and cook over medium heat until heated through.
  17. To thicken chili mix the cornstarch and 1/4 C water together.
  18. Add to the chili and stir well.

Dinner in a Flash All from Frozen

Sometimes you simply do not want the bother of cooking a big fussy meal. Well, if you have an All Clad Dutch Oven and more specifically the All-Clad Cast Aluminum 5-1/2-Quart Dutch Oven, you can prepare a meal in it from scratch with very little fuss.

Here is a recipe for a meal that only uses frozen stuff you simply add to your All Clad Dutch Oven, pop it into the oven and that's it!

Dinner from Frozen in a Flash

What You Need:

  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen hash browns
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t of pepper
  • 1 1/2 lbs. frozen chicken breasts
  • 1/2 C teriyaki sauce
  • 1 (16 oz.) bag of frozen mixed vegetables

How to Make It:

  1. Adjust the oven to 450 degrees allowing it to preheat.
  2. Spray an All Clad Dutch Oven well with a non stick cooking spray.
  3. Place the frozen hash browns into the bottom of the pan and sprinkle with the salt and pepper.
  4. Lay the frozen chicken breasts over the top of the potatoes.
  5. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken.
  6. Dump in the bag of frozen vegetables.
  7. Cover and bake 45 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.

Makes 4 servings

Don’t like all the fuss of preparing a meal? Try this quick and easy recipe. Everything comes right out of the freezer (have a look at the Frigidaire Chest Freezer for this) and goes directly into the pan. Use any type of frozen vegetables you have on hand. To make the potatoes a little creamier add 1/4 cup of water, milk or chicken broth before adding the chicken.

What Would We Have Done Without Our Freezers?

I think this is a question most of us ask from time to time. It is so convenient to freeze a tasty cake or something that you can grab in a moments notice if you unexpectedly have company for tea or such. If you do not have enough freezer space, it is always a good idea to look at a small freezer such as the Frigidaire Chest Freezer, or as the full model name reads, Frigidaire FFC0723DW 7-1/5-Cubic-Foot Manual-Defrost Chest Freezer White.

Now for a recipe that is ideal for any Holiday, prepare it in advance and have it ready when you need it.

Peppermint Angel Cake

What You Need:

  • 1 (15 oz) Pkg Angel Food Cake Mix
  • 1/3 C chocolate mint cookies, crushed
  • 3/4 C chopped pecans
  • 3 pints Peppermint ice cream, slightly soft
  • Aluminum foil
  • Freezer wrap

How to Make It:

  1. Mix the cake batter together as directed on the package.
  2. Pour the batter into an un-greased 10 in tube pan.
  3. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  4. Bake cake on the lowest oven shelf for 35 minutes.
  5. Top should spring back when touched when cake is done.
  6. Invert pan right away.
  7. Allow cake to cool for about 1 hour.
  8. Remove cake and cut lengthwise into three sections.
  9. Place the ice cream into a large mixing bowl.
  10. Add the cookies and pecans.
  11. Mix together well.
  12. Place the ice cream mixture back in the freezer for about 5 minutes.
  13. Place one section of the cake on a piece of aluminum foil large enough to cover the entire cake when completed.
  14. Remove ice cream and spread 1/3 of the mixture over the top of the cake.
  15. Add another section of cake.
  16. Spread another 1/3 of the ice cream mixture.
  17. Place the last section of cake on top.
  18. Finish with the rest of the ice cream.
  19. Cover tightly with the aluminum foil.
  20. Place in freezer for 2 hours.
  21. Remove from freezer and wrap in the freezer wrap if not serving immediately.
  22. Cake can be stored in the freezer for up to 1 month.
  23. To serve, remove from freezer.
  24. Unwrap and allow to set for about 10 minutes.
